What is Tylon?
Tylon is an antimicrobial coating that can be applied to a wide range of surfaces to prevent the spread of dangerous pathogens. Unlike common antimicrobial cleaners, which only kill bacteria and viruses when they are being applied, Tylon creates a long-lasting barrier that continues to kill pathogens on contact
What is the difference between Tylon Topcoat and Tylon Quickspray?
There are two Tylon products.
Tylon Topcoat is a permanent antimicrobial coating that is suitable for the most demanding applications. Tylon Topcoat is an incredibly tough and slick coating, making it suitable for any contact surface, even those between sliding metal parts. Tylon Topcoat will act as a dry lubricant in such applications. It is resistant to a wide range of chemicals, such as strong acids (including hot acid), brine, almost all organic solvents, corrosive gases (hydrogen sulfide), among many others. Tylon Topcoat is best applied at the manufacturing stage, where it is easier to control the process.
Tylon Quickspray is a product designed to be quick and easy for consumer use. Unlike Tylon Topcoat, it can be retroactively applied to commercial and residential surfaces. Tylon Quickspray is scratch-resistant, tough, and mildly slick. It is nearly permanent, however, its chemical resistance is not as robust as that of Tylon Topcoat. On surfaces that have been coated with Tylon QuickSpray, we recommend using gentle cleaners, such as dish soap or Simple Green, instead of caustic cleaners, such as bleach or concentrated ammonia, as these can damage the coating.
How does Tylon kill pathogens?
The active ingredient in Tylon is polyquaternium-6, a common non-toxic antimicrobial. Quaternary ammoniums, like this one, are the same active ingredients found in many hospital cleaners. Traditional cleaning sprays are extremely effective against microbes, but are only while they are being applied. Pathogens begin to recolonize the surface immediately afterward. Tylon continues to kill pathogens as they make contact with the surface.
Is it safe?
All of the ingredients used in Tylon products are FDA approved for food contact. We are currently seeking label approval from the EPA to sell in the USA.
How do you apply Tylon Quickspray?
Applying Tylon Quickspray is simple and easy.
Clean the surface with any commercial cleaner.
We recommended protecting any nearby surfaces you do not want to be coated, as Quickspray can discolor some objects.
Spray Tylon Quickspray onto the surface, making sure to coat the entire surface. You may use a cloth or brush to get an even coating.
Allow the surface to dry completely, roughly 5-10 minutes. More time may be required in humid environments, such as the inside of a fridge.
Apply the Tylon Quickspray Curing Spray. No wiping is necessary. Avoid touching after the curing spray has been applied
Wait for curing spray to dry, roughly 20-30 minutes.
Avoid cleaning the surface with chemical cleaners for 12 hours.

What kinds of surfaces can Tylon Quickspray be applied to?
Tylon Quickspray adheres best to metal (aluminum, steel, galvanized metal, brass, copper, and bronze), wood, fabrics, filters, and latex paints. It can also be applied to plastics, porcelain, glass, granite, waxed wood, among others, though we recommend gentle cleaning on these surfaces after application. Tylon Quickspray may leave a slight grey tint on light-colored surfaces, so it should be avoided on decorative surfaces that you would like to remain pristine white.
Does Tylon Quickspray dry clear?
Tylon Quickspray dries translucent with a slight grey tint, usually only visible on a white surface. On light-colored surfaces, test in an unobvious area first.
Do Tylon products kill COVID-19?
Quaternary ammoniums, such as the active ingredient in Tylon products, have been proven effective against enveloped viruses, such as influenza. It is believed that it will be effective against SARS variants, like COVID-19, but we are still awaiting test results.
